Square Peg Capital has led a $4 million seed funding round in cloud technology training company Saasguru.

Amit Choudhary came up with the concept for Saasguru in mid-2021. He had previously founded and developed Salesforce consultancy Saasfocus which was acquired by technology services firm Cognizant in 2018.

Saasguru was launched by Choudhary and Atif Saad, the former chief operating officer of Saasfocus, after they had placed a LinkedIn post in 2020 offering to provide tech sector retraining to retrenched workers. They received 50 responses; after receiving training, most of those respondents were able to find new jobs in the tech sector.

From that foundation, Saasguru was developed to provide training in cloud technology for new entrants to the field plus people who had initial cloud certificates and wanted assistance in training for higher level certificates.

Saasguru’s online platform covers training for Amazon Web Services, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Azure and other technology platforms. Training is provided through personalised programs and short videos. The service is backed up by an international network of ‘gurus’ who are paid by Saasguru to provide students with individual assistance.

Black Nova and Antler invested in the seed round alongside Square Peg. The same investors provided $1.3 million in pre-seed funding for Saasguru in January 2022.
