BBRC Private Equity, the investment vehicle of retailing billionaire Brett Blundy, has taken a 40% stake in fashion retailer DISSH.

Queensland-based DISSH operates six physical stores, four in Queensland and one each in Sydney and Melbourne, plus an online store.

DISSH is led by chief executive Lucy Henry-Hicks, a board member since 2020. Henry-Hicks has long been involved in the business which was started by her mother with one Brisbane store. Over recent years, and accelerated by the pandemic, Henry-Hicks has been instrumental in pivoting the brand toward e-commerce sales, locally and overseas.

DISSH employs a total of about 200 people. The company produces bold design dresses “made for the modern woman” which reflect the company’s sunshine state origins. The company focuses on using natural fibres.

Mark McInnes, the former David Jones chief executive, and more recently chief executive of Solomon Lew’s Premier Investments, recently joined BBRC as global chief executive of retail and consumer businesses.
